After a hectic few weeks of hectic esports action, last week saw a rather slower burn. Except for the long-awaited confirmation of Nikola “NiKo” Kovac joining G2 Esports, we’ve only seen one tournament with rather predictable results, leaving us with extremely little to work with.
The tournament in question is the Blast Fall Premier, where the first two groups have already played all their matches and ended in quite predictable fashion, with Na’Vi and OG emerging from Group A with EG and NiP getting the short end of the stick and BIG and Vitality advancing in Group B at the expense of the new look Complexity and NiKo-less FaZe (replaced by the returning Olof “olofmeister” Kjajber).
Group C started their games yesterday with both MIBR and FURIA failing to get a win for Brazil in Europe, losing to Astralis and the refreshed G2 respectively.
In roster moves, FaZe also parted with coach Janko “ynk” Paunovic, which means that we’ll hopefully see him and Chad “Spunj” Burchill back on the analyst’s desk together sooner than later.
Finally, in oddball news, Real Madrid footballer Casemiro has announced that he’s launching a new CS:GO team called Case Esports. The team compete in Spain, looking to launch the career of some young Brazilian players in Europe.
